元器件交易网讯 6月9日消息，据台湾电子时报报道，宏碁董事长施振荣在台北电脑展的一个云计算与物联网大会上宣布，将在BYOC上集成联发科LinkTt物联网平台，以便帮助客户开发可穿戴和物联网应用。

　　联发科CEO蔡明介也指出公司与宏碁的合作将从智能家居和智能终端设备开始，宏碁是其可穿戴解决方案的一个客户。

　　LinkIt平台是联发科于6月初在台北电脑展上发布，以联发科技旗下名为Aster的系统单芯片解决方案(SoC)为核心，Aster是目前市场上体积最小的穿戴式SoC，专为穿戴式及物联网应用而设计。

　　BYOC(Build Your Own Cloud)是宏碁自建云的品牌，于5月底发布，由董事长施振荣担任首席架构师。BYOC自建云服务建立在宏碁建构的一个云端平台(AOP)上，支持包括iOS/Android/Windows等在内的五种不同的操作系统和包括手机/平板/笔记本等在内的四种不同的终端设备，具有较高的安全性和可靠度。同时，BYOC自建云服务针对个人用户和企业用户均提供不同的定制服务。（元器件交易网刘光明 编译）

　　Acer chairman Stan Shih at a cloud computing and Internet of thing (IoT) conference during Computex announced cooperation with MediaTek to bundle MediaTek's LinkIt IoT platform into its Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) platform to assist its clients in developing wearable and IoT applications.

　　MediaTek CEO Ming-Kai (MK) Tsai also pointed out that the company's cooperation with Acer will start from markets such as smart home and smart end devices and Acer is one of its wearable solution clients.

　　MediaTek announced its LinkIt platform on the first day of Computex 2014. The platform features the company's Aster SoC solution, which is designed specifically for wearable devices and IoT applications.

　　Acer will equip its aspect-oriented programming (AOP) agent onto MediaTek's chip platform, enabling Acer to provide cloud computing services via MediaTek solution-based end devices, explained Shih, adding that their cooperation will be similar to Wintel, but Acer will not keep all the benefits to itself like western enterprises.

　　Shih pointed out that Acer has been operating in the cloud computing service industry for several years and the company's mega infrastructure, micro services concept has also been generating profits. Acer's BYOC platform came from its acquisition of iGware, which Acer started investing in as early as 2000, Shih said.

　　People have been asking about the number of users of Acer's BYOC platform, but they should be asking how many cloud services has Acer created around users, Shih said. For the consumer market, the BYOC platform business model is to make users' PCs their own datacenters, and users who wish to upgrade their services due to hardware limitations, are also able to choose to pay more for extra services.

　　As for the enterprise market, the BYOC platform will significantly reduce an enterprise's costs to develop their own cloud computing platforms, and also receive enterprise-level security and data protection, said Shih. He used the automobile industry as an example and pointed out that an automobile maker will not wish to place confidential data such as drivers' personal information onto a public cloud, but to create its own cloud computing platform, the maker would need to consider many issues such as extensibility and costs.

　　Rumors have circulated in the market that Acer may quit the PC industry, but in fact, the BYOC platform's existence will rely on PCs and therefore Acer will become more aggressive on raising the penetration rate of its PCs, tablets and smartphones to prop up its BYOC development and give the platform a chance to become a new ecosystem that will affect the world, Shih noted.
