元器件交易网讯 6月5日消息，据外媒报道，曾作为微软CEO候选人的托尼·贝茨（Tony Bates）日前加入可穿戴相机制造商GoPro，该公司正计划上市。

　　在Skype出售给微软之前，贝茨一直在思科领导该小组工作。本周三贝茨被任命为GoPro总裁兼董事会成员，报告对象为GoPro创始人兼首席执行官尼古拉斯·伍德曼（Nicholas Woodman）。

　　Tony Bates, a man once mentioned as apossible CEO candidate at MicrosoftMSFT +0.07%, is joining GoPro as thewearable camera maker prepares to go public.

　　Bates, also known for leading Skype beforeits sale to Microsoft and for a long stint at Cisco Systems, on Wednesday wasnamed GoPro’s president and a board member. He will report to Nicholas Woodman,GoPro’s founder and chief executive.

　　Microsoft chose another internal candidate,Satya Nadella, to lead the company in February. Bates, who held the title ofexecutive vice president, left the company the next month.

　　The company filed confidential paperworkfor an initial stock offering in February, followed up by a public filing inMay with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

　　GoPro, based in San Mateo, Calif., makesvideo cameras often used to showcase extreme outdoor sports and otheractivities. Besides selling hardware, the company also has a media businessthat posts branded videos on websites such as Google’s YouTube.

　　The company said Bates will focus on itscore business as well as helping to expand the media operations.

　　GoPro in 2013 sold more than 3.8 million ofits high-definition cameras through more than 25,000 retail stores in 100countries, according to the SEC filing.

　　It reported $60.6 million in profit onnearly $1 billion in revenue last year.

　　Woodman owns about 49% of the company, withother large shareholders being private equity firm Riverwood Capital  and Chinese electronics manufacturer FoxconnTechnology Group.

　　GoPro also said Peter Gotcher, anindependent investor who is chairman of Dolby Laboratories, will join itsboard.
