元器件交易网讯 5月21日消息，据外媒报道，精密机械传动系统制造商上银科技（Hiwin Technology）于5月19日与清华签订协议，将于台湾联合成立研发中心，未来10年投资额不少于660万美元。

　　上银的主要合作对象是机械工程学院，研发中心将整合清华研发能力与上银的生产技术与开发能力。上银科技CEO表示联合研发中心将提高上银产品的附加值及公司的国际竞争力，该研发中心将专注于开发智能自动化集成系统。（元器件交易网毛毛  摘译）

　　Hiwin Technologies, a Taiwan-based maker ofcomponents of precision mechanical transmission systems, on May 19 signed withNational Tsing Hua University to establish a joint R&D center in Taiwanwith a planned investment of at least NT$200 million (US$6.6 million) over thenext 10 years, according to company chairman Eric Chuo.

　　With the university's department ofmechanical engineering to be major partner, the joint R&D center willintegrate the university's R&D capabilities with Hiwin's manufacturingtechnology and product development competence, Chuo pointed out.

　　Hiwin has attained annual revenues ofNT$100-150 billion and aims at a total of NT$300 billion, Chuo said. In orderfor the revenue goal, it is important for Hiwin to upgrade technology over thenext 5-10 years and the joint R&D center is intended to enhance the addedvalue of Hiwin products and the company's international competitiveness, Chuo stressed.The joint R&D center will focus on development of integration ofintelligent automation systems for various applications, Chuo said.

　　Hiwin took over Samsung Electronics'R&D center in Moscow, Russia, as its first R&D center 14 years ago, setup its second one in Taiwan through cooperation with National Taiwan Universityfive years ago and will set up the third one with National Tsing HuaUniversity. In addition, Hiwin plans to establish its fourth R&D center inLithuania in 2014 and will establish a university in southern Taiwan by the endof 2014, with the university to be a laboratory for mechanical engineeringstudents.

　　In related news, Hiwin will tap the Japanmachine tool market through setting up factories there or merger with existingmakers, Chuo indicated.
