Contract manufacturer Pegatron is gearing up for the assembly of the Apple iPhone 6. According to a report out of China, Pegatron has expanded its factory space and is looking to hire new workers in order to handle the demanding task of assembling the next-generation iPhone. Work on assembling the next-gen version of Apple's iconic smartphone is expected to begin in the second quarter, according to sources. The same individuals would not offer a timeline as to when to expect the iPhone 6 to be in stores.
The actual number of iPhone 6 units to be produced at the Pegatron facility in Kunshan is unknown. Keeping that in mind, the number of new workers that the factory is looking to hire is also unknown. Pegatron and Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), both based in Taiwan, will be the two primary manufacturers of the next-generation Apple iPhone.
On Monday, we passed along word from analysts at ISI who forecast, like many others do, that Apple will be releasing two phones this year. One, a 4.7 inch device, will be the Apple iPhone 6. The other mode, carrying a 5.5 inch glass, will be a phablet version of the Apple iPhone.
